About Plastique:

Plastique is an independent press founded in 2009 to provide an outlet for, and exposure to, innovative and experimental works of literature.

As the economic realities of independent publishing continue to restrict the sphere of innovative and experimental works being published, Plastique seeks to bring those works to press through a more decentralized model. Plastique publishes eBooks distributed in Portable Document Format (PDF) that are viewable and printable on virtually any platform – Mac OS, Microsoft Windows, UNIX, and most mobile devices, including Android, Kindle and the Apple iPhone and iPad.

Plastique eBooks are designed for further exploration through interactive media. Depending on the nature of the work, supplemental material that informed the author's process (like downloadable books, audio, and video) may be hyperlinked from or embedded in the published eBook. Extended content (like audio and/or video poems, experimental films, etc.) may also be available in “extended” editions of some eBooks.

Plastique eBooks are distributed at readings, events, and book stores on credit card size plastic download cards that provide physicality to otherwise intangible digital media. They are also available for direct purchase and download online.

Submissions:
Our open submission period is from June 1st to August 31st. Please do not submit manuscripts outside of that period, they will be deleted unopened.

Plastique seeks to publish works of experimental literature that are well suited for further exploration through interactive media. These works tend toward research intensive projects, like documentary poetics, where supplemental material that informed the author's process (i.e. downloadable books, audio, and video) can be hyperlinked from or embedded in the published eBook.

Please query first with a letter that includes links to research material and a ten page sample of the manuscript.
